Rooma, situated approximately 20 kilometers east of Kanpur, India, is a satellite town and a significant industrial and institutional center along the Kanpur–Allahabad Highway of National Highway 19. It is recognized as one of the major towns within the Kanpur metropolitan area.
Economy
Rooma hosts numerous industries within the U.P.S.I.D.C. developing area. Along the NH-2 National Highway 19, several automotive showrooms are prominently located. Notably, TECHNO INDIA serves as a service center for Makita and Bosch power tools. With the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor passing through Rooma and its own railway station on the corridor, the town holds immense potential for becoming a major industrial city in Uttar Pradesh.
Textile Park
Spanning 173 acres of land on National Highway No.2 (Kanpur-Allahabad Section), the Textile Park project offers facilities such as a Training Centre, Fashion Design Centre, and CETP (Common Effluent Treatment Plant) for textile units in the area.
UPSIDC has developed a leather goods complex along with a township at Rooma, enhancing the industrial landscape of the town.
New Rooma Industrial Estate
To bolster small-scale industries, UPSIDC has planned the development of a new industrial estate named New Rooma Industrial Estate.
IT Hub
With the construction of a large Airport terminal in its sister town Chakeri slated for completion by 2020, Rooma is poised to become a major IT hub in Uttar Pradesh, offering significant opportunities in the IT and electronics sectors.

Road:National Highway 19, connecting Delhi with Dankuni near Kolkata, passes through Rooma. The town is well-connected by bus services to major cities like Kanpur, Allahabad, Agra, Mathura, Faridabad, and Jaipur. Kanpur Metropolitan Bus Service operates routes within Kanpur city and metropolitan area.
Railways:Rooma has a railway station on the Delhi–Howrah main line, with passenger trains and Lichchavi Express making halts. Plans are underway to convert Rooma into a terminal station due to its rapid development. Sarsaul Railway Station, serving some express/mail trains, is located 10 km away, while Kanpur Central Railway Station is 14 km away.
Airways:Kanpur Airport, the nearest airport, is connected to major domestic destinations in India and is slated to become an international airport in the near future.
